In the relatively short history of aviation, advances in technology have come about by many means. Some through careful though and planning, others from just trying something different. This is one instance where trying something different triumphed over careful thought.

This cartoon was exhibited, and sold, at the Guild of Aviation Artists Annual Exhibition held at the Mall Galleries, London, in July 2012.
