The Client
After attending the Guild of Aviation Artists annual exhibition in 2010 and seeing one of my cartoons, which had unfortunately been sold, Steve contacted me about a commission in the same style. The 'Spot the new balloon crew' cartoon had brought back memories of his Dad's experiences during the war.
The Challenge
I needed to create a couple of cartoons for Steve based upon stories that he had been told about his Dad's days in the RAF during the Second World War.
The Solution
During an exchange of ideas several memorable events were suggested as the basis for the cartoons. Using these as the key element for each cartoon I generated some basic sketches giving a general impression of the completed image. Steve then chose the two images that he liked the most. I then worked them up in several stages emailing each new version to Steve for approval before finally completing the cartoons.
The Result
Steve was thoroughly delighted with the results.
